Routine; July 22 2026
The Trans Survivors: Zine Showcase is next Tuesday – that’s July 28th! I hope you’ll come listen to some spectacular writers talk about their work! I will also be there.
I’ve tentatively launched an exercise routine, but I’m woefully back to feeling guilty no matter what activity I’m doing. If I’m exercising, I should be reading. If I’m reading, I should be writing. If I’m writing, I should be exercising. It’s a vicious cycle, one that doesn’t even account for housework.
The simplest fix would be to schedule myself more strictly, but when I’ve tried that in the past, it’s put a lot of stress on me. If I wind up not using that time ‘effectively’, it’s easy to spiral. Yet, I think creating even a loose schedule is probably my best bet.
I’ll have to work around all the appointments I’ve lined up. I need to talk to my doctor about better pain management; I was out of commission for a startling number of days last week, in too much pain to even get off the couch. I also have an appointment with my student advisor to help me plan out my courses for the next five years. I’m on a reduced courseload, so I won’t be out of school in four, but I don’t mind.
After combing the available courses, I think I’ve decided on all my electives. I’m really hoping to minor in 2SLGBTQ+ studies.
And then, naturally, I want to get my current work-in-progress wrapped up by the end of summer. The first draft, that is. I’ve only got 15,000 or so words down so far – about one quarter done, I’m estimating, though I’ll have to beef up the word count during revisions.
Just got to figure out this whole scheduling-myself nonsense.
