A Self-Pub Announcement; July 6 2026
Coming soon – As Thick As Water: A Novelette.
Between my first book going down with the ship (or, publisher) and a significant date coming up one month from now, I’ve decided to venture into self-publishing one of my works – a novelette, which are notoriously difficult to find traditional publishers for.
It’s a dark fantasy about fae deals and girls caught in abusive systems. The blurb:
Nessa struck a deal. In exchange for magic, she and two other girls – Hua and Eira – become the family of a fae they call River. Nessa murders her father, slips into the world of the fae, and is bound to honour the favours River asks of her – because who wouldn’t do anything for family?

It’s coming August 10th, and I’ll explain why that’s the date I chose!
Six years ago, I signed a contract for a three-book fantasy series with a publisher. I felt deeply for this series, having worked on it for years. In hindsight, a lot of it would’ve held up if it had been published on time; now a lot of what made it special/standout has become cliché.
You see where the problem is, presumably. This series hasn’t come out yet. I expect it never will.
I signed that contract on August 10th, 2020. I want that date to mean something new to me.
Mark your calendars – it’ll be coming out on paperback next month through Amazon. Which… leads me to the other elephant in the room.
Amazon.
As much as I detest it, Amazon is still the most accessible platform for authors to self-publish their works. I’ve reviewed their AI policy again and again and, honestly… It’s kind of a ‘devil you know’ situation. I still won’t be putting it out on ebook due to their e-readers’ AI summarizing feature. I’m hoping sticking to paperback exclusively will make it at least a little tougher to scrape my work.
Hopefully y’all can stand by me as I try out this new publishing avenue. I’ll still be pursuing traditional publishing for my novella- and novel-length works.
Wish me luck, and thank everyone who’s supported me thus far!
