Positive Place; August 5 2026

5 days until my novelette comes out! ‘As Thick as Water’ comes out on August 10th, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to finally share it with everyone! If it performs well enough, I’m considering releasing my poetry chapbook the same way. What do y’all think?

If you’re interested in finding out what my poetry is like (and are unfamiliar with it from my other contributions to zines or anthologies) you can check out this video from Forge’s Trans Survivors Zine Showcase – the full showcase is up on Youtube, but the part I’ve linked is just my part. I strongly encourage everyone to watch the whole thing! All the poems and art presented were breathtaking. Thanks again to Forge for having me!

Also, if you’re in the GTA this month, I’ll be selling copies of both ‘The Other Face of Sympathy’ and ‘As Thick as Water’ on August 15th! Toronto Dark Arts Market is holding a Beach Party Market from 11:00-5:00, where I’ll be vending and hopefully seeing y’all there!

This summer’s been a really full one. I’ve been busy with courses – I just took my last ASL vocabulary test! One final to go! – and have my classes for the fall term all lined up. I’ve written 25,000+ words of my latest book, which features a protagonist with Dissociative Identity Disorder; I’ve always wanted to write a hero with DID where the disorder isn’t demonized, so it feels really good to be working on it. I’ve submitted some article pitch ideas to some zines on a lark, I’ve started exercising and reading more again, I’m discovering and re-discovering music I love. I feel, overall, in a healthier place than I started the summer in. That’s worth celebrating.

The only thing that could make things feel right at last is if I could sign a contract for a decent book deal… So keep your fingers crossed for me!
