Blue States; November 4 2026

I cried this morning, I was so relieved. We’re living through history, and for the first time, it doesn’t feel doomed. You did a great job, America – keep at it! The fight’s ongoing, but this was a victory for the ages.

It’s hard to figure out what else to blog about today. I barely care about anything but yesterday’s election! But, let’s see.

This past Sunday, I was at the Buy Canadian Book Market, and while turn-out was low, it went well otherwise! I got to experience someone reading some of my poetry in front of me and decide from that to buy the book. They told me it was well written and that was a wild feeling.

Putting this poetry book into the world feels so much more personal than my fiction. In a way it makes sense – the subject matter is literally me and my life – but it’s more than that, I think. In writing fiction, I’m working with my POV character to develop a voice for the narration; in poetry, it’s just me.

Which is especially why I’m committed to staying out of reader’s spaces to review. I hope people do review it on Goodreads or Amazon, but I’m determined to never check.

Respect reader spaces, fellow authors! It’s for your own sake as well as theirs!
