A big thanks to the Toronto Dark Arts Market for having me at the Beach Party Market this past Saturday! My next confirmed market is the Buy Canadian Book Market on November 1st; there are going to be so many fantastic authors there, so I’m honoured to be among them!
School is coming up soon, and with it, I’m going to be adhering to a more formal exercise schedule. There’s a gym on campus, which my tuition gives me access to. It just makes sense to start using it! With that in mind, though, I’m trying to power through the rest of this novel I’m working on. I’m not going to have nearly so much time to dedicate to work.
Writing has been frustrating lately, though. Several of my novels are being read by publishers, and while I keep getting praise for my works, no one’s actually offered to publish them.
And that sucks.
Once, back when I was still on Twitter, I got a message from an assistant acquisitions’ editor. They told me they’d read one of my books back when I was submitting to indie publishers directly, and they hoped it’d been published since they last read it because they still thought about it.
Related: on Saturday, someone came up to me and told me they’d read The Other Face of Sympathy. She loved it. She was hoping to find out if I had any other ghost story novels, which I do! It’s on submission. She told me she’s excited for when it’s published, because she’ll absolutely be getting a copy.
People do like what I write. I have to remember that.
But it’s so frustrating that the publishing industry isn’t willing to take a chance on me.
