Incoming Onslaught; March 25 2026

First off – if you haven’t watched it already, go check out Drinking With Authors to hear me chat with marvellous host Nick Savage about homelessness in Toronto, the use of AI, my thoughts on content warnings… A whole bunch of stuff! I had a great time on the podcast and it was an honour to be there!

Just this past weekend was Comic-con! My kid and I dressed up all three days and had a fantastic time. One of the things I’m most excited for following the experience are trading cards of the both of us, provided by Can Cosplay Cards. All the proceeds were going to charity, so I couldn’t resist having my kid’s Sailor Moon cosplay captured… And then my D&D Plague Cleric costume, the day after. I’ll be sure to show them off once they arrive!

It was quite a weekend in that, while actively attending convention events, I was also writing a 100-word story to participate in NYC Midnight’s micro fiction competition. That’s 24 hours and a 3-part prompt given to produce a compelling story… in 100 words or less. I have no clue how I did.

But, even if I don’t get through to the next round, at least I proved to myself that I can write a whole story during a convention. No excuses of being busy, anymore!

Also, as I announced last blog post, I’m going to start putting my newsletter back in action starting in April, which means I have a very busy month ahead of me. Final exams, a trip to Montreal (accompanying a friend there for surgery), donations scheduled, Girl Guide events, several birthdays…

Not to mention kicking it all off with April Fool’s Day, which I grudgingly participate in only with my daughter. Even then, my ‘pranks’ involve hiding a bunch of plastic eggs. Some of them have candy inside, the rest of them have little slips of paper saying ‘April fools!’ in them.

It’s going to be wild. Get ready.
